Piero Filippin has a diverse work experience spanning several companies and roles. Piero started their career as a Software Developer at ELCON from 1995 to 1997. Piero then worked as a Researcher at Centro Padova Ricerche from 1998 to 1999. Following this, they worked as a Software Developer at E-creation in 2001.

In 2004, Piero joined ITFutures, where they held various roles. Piero started as a Technical Support Officer from 2004 to 2005 and then worked as a Granada Support and Development Engineer from 2006 to 2007. Piero also served as an External Funded Projects Consultant/Advisor in 2007. From 2007 to 2008, Piero worked as an RFID Design Engineer, responsible for technical management of the West Midlands Regional Centre for RFID. Piero then became a Senior Consultant (HEIF) - RFID Development and Exploitation from 2009 to 2013, where their job involved knowledge transfer and fostering collaborations between industries.

In 2010, Piero joined the University of Wolverhampton as a Technical lead for the RFID-From-Farm-To-Fork project from 2010 to 2012.

In 2013, they moved to SME Group, WMG, University of Warwick, where they took on the role of Technology Transfer Specialist (Digital Innovation) from 2013 to 2015, focusing on Cloud and Mobile themes. Piero then became an Innovation Manager (Digital Manufacturing) from 2015 to 2019.

In 2019, Piero joined Friend MTS as a Senior Software Engineer until 2023. Currently, they are working as a Senior Software Developer at Iothic Ltd. since March 2023.

Piero Filippin completed their Bachelor of Engineering (BEng Hons) in Software Engineering at Università degli Studi di Padova, which they obtained before 2003. In 2006, they pursued further education and earned a Postgraduate Diploma (PGDip) in Computer Science from the University of Wolverhampton, which they completed in 2008.

In addition to their formal education, Piero Filippin has obtained several certifications. Piero earned the AWS Solutions Architect Associate certification from Total Seminars in July 2019. In the same month and institution, they also obtained the CompTIA Security+ certification. In July 2017, they completed the LBR iiwa 5 day workshop at KUKA Robotics. Piero acquired the Information Security Essentials certification from the University of Warwick in January 2016. Furthermore, in June 2013, they obtained three certifications: the GS1 Barcode Certificate, GS1 EPC/RFID Certificate, and GS1 System Certificate, all from GS1 UK. Piero Filippin also obtained the RFID Project Implementation certification from RFIP Limited in July 2007 and the Wireless LAN Management certification from Airmagnet Technology in June 2004.
