Mary Chavez

Mary Chavez is currently working as a Human Resources Specialist at Veterans Benefits Administration, handling recruitment, hiring, onboarding, and benefits. Mary also serves as an IHH Peer Support Specialist at Broadlawns Medical Center, advocating for individuals with mental illnesses. In addition, Mary works as an Adjunct Level 5 Reading Instructor at Iowa Valley Community College District, teaching ESL students. Mary is also involved in various committees and councils focused on mental health and veteran support in Iowa. Mary holds a BA in TESOL from the University of Northern Iowa and has certifications in Mental Health Recovery.
