Andrew Wilkinson, PhD, serves as the Commissioner of Patents and General Manager of the Patents Examination Group at IP Australia, where a key role includes being a Cultural and Linguistic Diversity Champion. With extensive experience in intellectual property and patents, previous positions include Acting Assistant General Manager and Deputy Commissioner of Patents, as well as Director of Domestic Policy and Legislation, recognized with the Director General Award in 2017 and 2018. Earlier roles at IP Australia involved searching and examination of patent applications, including medical devices, and prior experience at Seeing Machines involved overseeing IP portfolio expansion and prior art searching. Andrew Wilkinson's academic credentials encompass a PhD in Physical Sciences from The Australian National University and a Graduate Certificate in Intellectual Property Law from the University of Technology Sydney.
