Michael Schwager currently serves as the Director General of IP Australia since September 2018, following a brief tenure as Chief Operating Officer at CSIRO. Prior to these roles, Michael Schwager worked at the Department of Industry, Innovation and Science for over 12 years, holding various key positions including Chief Operating Officer and acting Deputy Secretary, overseeing critical programs such as AusIndustry and small business policy development. Michael Schwager's career began in the Australian Parliament as a Research and Media Officer, and includes experience at KPMG as an auditor. Educational credentials include a Bachelor of Economics from the University of Sydney, the Company Directors Course from the Australian Institute of Company Directors, and participation in the Oxford Strategic Leadership Programme.
