Country Head, Ethiopia at IPE Global Limited

Tesfaye Hailu has profound understanding of and extensive experience in implementing water supply and renewable energy turnkey projects in the Region. He has more than 6 years of experience working in the environment and climate finance sector. Prior to joining the IPE Global, Tesfaye has been Country programme head for the Climate and Development Knowledge Programme (CDKN) that was funded by DfID, managed by PriceWaterhouseCoopers (PWC) and implemented by SouthSouthNorth (SSN) in Ethiopia. The CDKN programme focused on the provision of technical assistance support to several ministries of the Government of Ethiopia; including the Ministry of Finance (MoF) on climate finance and the Ministry of Water, Irrigation and Electricity (MoWIE) on Decentralized Renewable Energy (DRE). Tesfaye also worked for the programme as a team lead for the DFID funded technical assistance project for the development, revision and setting up of a $50M climate focused proposal of the Government of Ethiopia, that was funded by the Green Climate Fund (GCF) and a $10M from the Adaptation Fund. In this capacity Tesfaye managed a team of 12 national and international firms and experts in providing support to the implementation of Ethiopia’s Climate Resilient Green Economy vision and strategy. Tesfaye has also been working with USAID, as a lead advisor to the Public Health Infrastructure Directorate of the Federal Ministry of Health in implementing the Health Sector Development Programmes (HSDP) IV. Tesfaye also has an experience of implementing turnkey projects that were funded by the GIZ to the Ministry of Energy & Water in the Republic of Djibouti. His project specific experience includes lead advisor, consultant and project manager to the various ministries of the government of Ethiopia and Djibouti, the private sector and bilateral and multilateral agencies in the water, energy, health and environment sector in the East African Region.
