David Wastell

David Wastell is a seasoned communications professional with extensive experience in journalism and media. Currently serving as Director of News and Communications at IPPR since May 2018, Wastell leads a team dedicated to promoting progressive ideas on economic and policy issues. Prior freelance consulting work began in July 2017, complemented by a role as Director of Communications at Start Network from July 2016 to July 2017, where a new communication strategy was developed for a consortium of NGOs. Wastell previously held significant editorial positions, including Foreign Editor at The Independent and the i newspaper from February 2015 to April 2016, as well as Foreign Editor at The Telegraph from 2005 to 2014, and Washington Correspondent for the Sunday Telegraph from 1988 to 2002. Wastell holds a Master of Arts (MA) in Philosophy, Politics, and Economics from New College, Oxford University.
