Frank Sportolari is a native of Chicago and holds a BA degree in economics from the University of Illinois. He also completed management programs at Emory University in Atlanta and at the London Business
School. Before joining UPS in 1986, he worked 6 years as a logistics manager for the US Department of Defense in Germany.
Frank joined UPS in Munich, Germany in 1986 and held various positions of increasing responsibility within the Finance and Accounting function, including working as a Controller in Munich, Cologne and
Neuss for UPS in Germany before moving to Madrid in 1996 where he was the Controller for UPS Spain & Portugal. This was followed by Controller assignments at UPS Italy and in the UPS European Coordination Center in Brussels, where Frank coordinated the activities of the UPS Controllers across the Europe Region.
Frank has had extensive experience in Italy where he held the position of controller from 1998 to 1999 and of managing director from 2002 to 2004. From 2004 to 2007, he took on the role of Vice President of European Strategy, based in Brussels, Belgium where he was responsible for developing strategies for the EMEA markets.
In 2007, Frank returned to Italy as managing director, a position which he held until September 2011. During this time Frank served as a board member of the American Chamber of Commerce in Italy.
In September of 2011 Frank was appointed to his current position as President of UPS Germany. In April 2018 he was elected President of the American Chamber of Commerce in Germany. Additional he serves as vice chairmen of the CDU Business Council International Commission and on the boards of several industry and charitable organizations. He is a start-up mentor at the Founder Institute Cologne Chapter. Since joining the iQ International board in November 2019, he has taken on being a member of the Strategic Operations Committee and Compensation Committee of the Company.
