Mark J. Furlong

Mark J. Furlong has extensive experience in the semiconductor industry. Mark J. started their career in 1995 as an Industrial Research Fellow, where they developed next-generation semiconductor materials for high-efficiency solar cells. Mark J. then held various technical sales and marketing roles before becoming the Technical Sales Director at Wafer Technology Ltd. In this role, they led the company's turnaround following the telecoms crash and won a prestigious customer services award.

In 2008, Furlong became the Director of Wafer Technology Ltd., overseeing a large manufacturing operation supplying semiconductor materials. Mark J. then joined Galaxy Compound Semiconductors Inc. as President & General Manager, managing a facility that served the defense, security, and space sensor markets.

In 2010, Furlong joined IQE as a Business Unit Leader, where they built and developed the infrared materials portfolio and achieved significant market share and revenue growth. Mark J. later became the Executive Vice President, responsible for driving global development, coordinating global manufacturing facilities, and managing sales and distribution teams. During their tenure, IQE saw revenue growth through market share wins and the introduction of new products.

Throughout their career, Furlong has been recognized for their industry leadership, winning awards and delivering technical presentations at trade shows. Mark J. has a proven track record of driving business growth and establishing companies as industry leaders.

Mark J. Furlong earned a Ph.D. in Semiconductor Science & Technology from the University of Bath, where they studied from 1992 to 1995. Later, from 2001 to 2003, they pursued a Diploma in Management specializing in Managing Performance and Change at The Open University. Mark also holds a Bachelor of Science (Hons.) degree in Chemistry from Queen Mary University of London, which they obtained between 1989 and 1992.
