Terry Gaasterland

Terry Gaasterland is a seasoned professional in bioinformatics and computational biology, currently serving as a Professor and Director of the Bioinformatics & Systems Biology Program at the University of California, San Diego, and has been affiliated with the Institute for Genomic Medicine at Scripps Institution of Oceanography since 2003. In addition to academic roles, Terry holds multiple leadership positions within the City of Del Mar, including Deputy Mayor, Council Member, and Chair of the Sea Level Rise Technical Advisory Committee. Terry has been the Vice President of the International Society of Computational Biology since 2008 and has contributed to various organizations as a board member, co-founder, advisor, and consultant. Educational credentials include a Ph.D. and MS in Computer Science from the University of Maryland and a BS in Computer Science and Russian from Duke University.
