Dean Anderson

Executive Director, Facilities Management at Island Health - Vancouver Island Health Authority

Dean Anderson has extensive work experience in facilities management and operations. Dean started their career as the Manager Technical Services at Island Health in 2002 and later became the Director of Facilities Maintenance & Operations in 2008, a position they held until 2017. In this role, they provided strategic direction to the facilities operations and maintenance team and developed department strategic plans for workforce and service delivery. Anderson then joined Island Health - Vancouver Island Health Authority as the Corporate Director of Logistic and Operations in 2017, responsible for a comprehensive suite of services including security, fire safety, logistics, and vehicle/fleet management. In April 2018, they were promoted to the Executive Director of Facilities Management. Prior to their time at Island Health, Anderson worked as the Operations Superintendent at BC Buildings Corporation from 2000 to 2002.

Dean Anderson completed a Graduate Certificate in Health Systems Leadership at Royal Roads University from 2012 to 2013. Dean also received a certificate in Talent Development from Royal Roads University in 2012. In 2011, they obtained a Facilities Management Professional (FMP) certification from the International Facilities Management Association. In 2002, Dean completed an Emerging Leadership Program at Royal Roads University. Additionally, they earned a Facilities Management Administrator (FMA) certification from the Building Owners and Managers Institute in 2000.
