Dan Wendlandt

Co-Founder & CEO at Isovalent

Dan was a founding employee and drove product strategy at Nicira, the company that created Open vSwitch and led the software-defined networking revolution. After Nicira’s acquisition by VMware, Dan worked to turn Nicira’s technology into the now widely-adopted VMware NSX product line that popularized the notion of network micro-segmentation. Dan is a long time contributor to and leader of open source communities, creating and serving as the Project Tech Lead for OpenStack’s Networking Project. Driven by a belief that better security abstractions at the infrastructure layer can lead to fundamentally better protection of user data in the applications we all use every day, Dan co-founded Isovalent with Thomas after discovering eBPF and realizing that it was the key to unlocking the next wave of innovation in Linux network & security.
