Mission Operation Engineer

Andres Penaranda is a skilled aerospace engineer with extensive experience in mission operations and spacecraft engineering. Currently serving as a Mission Operation Engineer at ispace, inc., since June 2023, responsibilities include managing the Ground Segment development for lunar lander missions and creating operational plans and procedures. Previous experience as a Spacecraft Operations Systems and Software Engineer at Capella Space involved commissioning new spacecraft and enhancing anomaly detection systems. As a Flight Engineer at Loon, operations for high-altitude balloons were managed, and test flights were executed for hardware development. Additionally, experience as a Graduate Research Student at the University of Michigan focused on hypersonic flight modeling, while leading a GNC SubSystem team at Distributed Universal Satellite Technology involved designing a CubeSat control system. Educational qualifications include a Master’s degree in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Michigan and dual Bachelor's degrees in Mechanical Engineering and Physics from Universidad de Los Andes.
