Florence Defresne

Florence Defresne has over 15 years of experience in clinical research and oncology. Florence began their career in 2006 as a Post-doc in Oncology and a PhD student in Pharmaceutical Sciences at the Universit\u00e9 catholique de Louvain. During this time, they wrote their PhD thesis on the influence of the tumor microenvironment on the humoral and cellular immune response, and published two related papers. From 2012 to 2015, they worked as a Clinical Scientist and Clinical Research QA at UCLouvain - Universit\u00e9 catholique de Louvain, where they managed paediatric clinical trials and developed a first in man trial. Florence then moved to St. Jude Medical as a Senior In-House CRA from 2015 to 2016. From 2016 to 2018, they worked at EORTC as a Clinical Scientist in Oncology, providing scientific support to clinicians and developing new hypotheses and therapeutic strategies. Finally, they are currently employed as a Clinical Project Lead at iSTAR Medical since 2021.

Florence Defresne completed their Doctorate in Biomedical and Pharmaceutical Sciences in Cancérologie from the Université catholique de Louvain in 2011. Florence also earned their Pharmacist degree from the same institution in 2006, after completing their Candidatures in Pharmacy from the Université de Namur in 2002. In addition, they have obtained two certifications: Advanced Clinical Research Project Manager from CCRPS in December 2022 and ISO14155 Training - Training Certificate from the European Centre for Clinical Research Training (ECCRT) in February 2022.
