Marcelo Barros, M.Sc. has over 25 years of experience in the automotive industry, with a focus on electrical and electronic engineering. Marcelo has held various senior roles at companies such as Italdesign, Volkswagen do Brasil, and Volkswagen AG.
At Italdesign, Marcelo currently serves as the Automotive Lighting Electronic Leader Engineer, responsible for the validation of automotive exterior lighting systems for Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles. Marcelo supports the technical development of electrical and electronic components in automotive lighting systems and collaborates with suppliers for design concept development.
Previously, Marcelo worked at Volkswagen do Brasil as a Sr. Automotive Electrical Designer for eight years. Marcelo Barros, M.Sc. has a diverse educational background. Marcelo obtained their Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.) degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from the Universidade Santa Cecília, where they studied from 1990 to 1996. Following that, they pursued their Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree in Technology Information at the Fundação Getulio Vargas, attending from 2002 to 2004. Later on, they completed their Master of Engineering (M.Eng.) degree in Automotive Engineering Technology/Technician at the USP - Universidade de São Paulo, studying from 2005 to 2007.
In addition to their formal education, Marcelo Barros has actively pursued additional certifications to enhance their skills and knowledge. Marcelo obtained a certificate in Introduction to Self-Driving Cars from the University of Toronto in February 2021. In December 2020, they received a certification in Electric Cars: Technology from edX. Furthermore, they acquired expertise in Scrum, an agile methodology in product development and project management, from Impacta Tecnologia in September 2019.
