Omar Barkawi

Omar Barkawi has over a decade of experience in the IT industry. Omar began their career in 2009 as an Engineering Project Manager at ITG Software, Inc., where they managed multiple migrations from responsive websites to Progressive Web Apps. During their time at ITG Software, Inc., they also served as a Team Lead, overseeing the development of commerce infrastructure strategies for multi-million dollar websites.

In 2015, Omar joined Cornerstone Brands Inc. as a Senior Web Operations Consultant. In this role, they were responsible for the installation, configuration, and troubleshooting of IBM HTTP Server and Apache Server. Omar also successfully completed the migration from IBM WebSphere V6 to IBM WebSphere V7.

In 2018, Omar founded Receet, Inc. and served as the CEO. Receet is a mobile app platform that provides digital receipts to consumers without requiring personal information. The platform utilizes Bluetooth and NFC technology to instantly push digital receipts to smartphones and wearables.

In 2018, Omar returned to ITG Software, Inc. as a Team Lead for Digital Experience & Engineering. In this position, they focused on developing scalable and stable websites and applications with near-zero downtime. Omar also implemented Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment pipelines using Jenkins and Quickbuild.

Throughout their career, Omar has demonstrated expertise in shell scripting, automation, and monitoring tools such as JIRA and Slack. Omar has experience managing teams, developing training procedures, and ensuring positive customer experiences.

Omar Barkawi pursued their Bachelor's degree in Computer Software Engineering from 2005 to 2009 at Al Ahliyya Amman University.
