Martin Hignett has extensive work experience in software engineering and technical leadership roles. Despite the challenges of working with a legacy product, they successfully released a major update and several customer projects.

Martin's career also includes positions at Appian Technology, where they worked as a Software Engineer from 2004 to 2005, and at Portrait Software as a Software Engineer from 1998 to 2002. At Appian, they built bespoke applications based on core software for number plate recognition. At Portrait Software, they contributed to the development of customer relationship management systems for banks.

Earlier in their career, Martin worked as a Software Developer at J D Associates and Paragon Software, where they reverse-engineered proprietary interfaces of mobile phones and developed synchronization software. Martin also worked as a Software Engineer at SDL International.

Martin Hignett obtained their Bachelor of Science degree in Physics and Computer Science from the University of Kent. Martin enrolled in the program in 1989 and successfully completed their education in 1993.
