Margaret Barrow has a diverse work experience that spans over several years. Margaret is the Founder/CEO of It's Nola Snack, a healthy snack manufacturer, where one of the main goals is to support community college students. Margaret has worked on reaching out to companies and influencers within the health food industry to promote their product. Prior to this, they had a long tenure as a Tenured Faculty in the English Department at Borough of Manhattan Community College, CUNY. Margaret also served as the Deputy Chair of the Department of English. Margaret was heavily involved in various roles at the college, such as being a Co-Designer/Committee Member of the BMCC Teaching Academy and Co-Chair of the Transitions and Transactions I, II, III, and IV Regional & National Literature Conferences. Margaret was also the Chairperson of the Faculty-Student Disciplinary Committee. Additionally, Margaret had the opportunity to be a Keynote Speaker at the Working Group on Girls Conference, 9th Annual Girls' Day Out, a conference focused on empowering middle school girls.

Margaret Barrow holds a Doctorate in English Education from Teachers College, Columbia University, which they obtained from 2002 to 2009. Margaret also holds a Master's degree in English Language and Literature/Letters, which they received from The City College of New York between 1996 and 2000. Currently, Margaret is a Tory Burch Fellow for 2023 and has received the 2022 Women of Color Grant as part of their entrepreneurship program at the Tory Burch Foundation.
