Melda Hickman

Melda Hickman is an accomplished professional in system engineering and power distribution with extensive experience in transit systems management. Currently serving as the Director of System Engineering at MARTA since June 2022, Melda oversees the development and implementation of comprehensive programs for transit elements including rail and bus systems. Prior to MARTA, experience includes the role of Power Distribution Superintendent at King County Metro Transit (2016-2022), managing a team responsible for high-voltage trolley systems and communications. Previous positions include Traction Power Chief at King County, Administrative Electrical Crew Chief at the Port of Seattle, and Inside Wireman at IBEW Local 46, showcasing a strong background in electrical systems and safety management. Melda holds an Industrial Electricity Certificate from South Seattle Community College and completed coursework at Chattanooga State Community College.
