Barbara Lax is the Director at Itten+Brechbühl AG. Barbara has also worked as the Sustainable Development Manager at Caterpillar and as a Research Engineer at CIMNE.
Lax has always been interested in environmental issues and their impact on business. Barbara started their career as a research engineer, developing software for numerical simulation of thermo-mechanical steel-production processes. Later, they became interested in how businesses can operate in a more sustainable way and took a position as the Sustainable Development Manager at Caterpillar. In this role, they were responsible for leading the company's efforts to reduce its environmental impact and become more sustainable.
Lax is now the Director at Itten+Brechbühl AG, where they are continuing their work to promote sustainability in businesses. Under their leadership, Itten+Brechbühl AG has become a leading sustainable design firm, helping other businesses to adopt sustainable practices.
Barbara Lax has a Master's in Numerical Methods in Engineering from Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya, a Diplom Ingenieur in Civil Engineering from Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), and a Master Thesis in Civil Engineering from EPFL (École polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne). Barbara also has certification from The IRONMAN Group in IRONMAN Switzerland Finisher, Thun 2021; EPFL Innovation Park in Start-Up Board Academy; GoBeyond in Business Angel Training; Caterpillar Inc. in Certified Six Sigma Black Belt; and The IRONMAN Group in IRONMAN Switzerland Finisher, Zürich 2003.
