Dave started their career as a Senior Technical Writer at Niche Associates in 1998, where they developed training materials and product documentation for companies such as Intel, Novell, LANDesk, and Trend Micro. Dave also provided train-the-trainer training for Intel network certification programs.

In 2001, Dave joined Enterasys Networks as a Senior Technical Writer before moving to EmeregeCore Networks in 2002 for a brief period in the same role. Dave then joined Wavelink Corporation, where they held various positions. As the Senior Technical Writer, they developed product documentation for a suite of software products in the Wireless Mobility space. Later, as the Manager of Quality Assurance, they oversaw test design and testing schedules for the release of Wavelink's flagship product. Finally, in the same year, Dave moved to Ivanti as a Technical Support Manager. In this role, they were the primary escalation point for customer-related support and product issues. Dave managed a team and was responsible for team performance and management.
