Matthias Pilz

Matthias Pilz has a range of work experience in software engineering, research, tutoring, and teaching. From 2020, they have been working as a Senior Software Engineer at IVU Traffic Technologies. Prior to that, they worked as a Research Associate in Machine Learning at Kingston University from November 2016 to May 2020. In this role, they were the lead researcher for a computer vision project and worked on object detection based on various data inputs. Matthias also worked as a MathsAid Tutor at Kingston University from November 2016 to November 2019, assisting students with mathematics, physics, and programming. Additionally, they held the position of Hourly Paid Lecturer from October 2018 to February 2019, teaching courses in Applied Mathematics and Computing for first-year engineering students. Matthias also worked as an Invigilator from February 2018 to June 2018 and as a Teaching Assistant for the Engineering Mathematics and Computing course at Kingston University London from January 2017 to April 2017 and from January 2018 to April 2018. In this role, they taught students in Matlab and Excel to prepare them for coursework and examinations.

Matthias Pilz has a strong educational background in mathematics, computer science, and physics. Matthias obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Mathematics and Computer Science from Kingston University in the years 2016 to 2019. Before their doctoral studies, Matthias completed a Master of Science degree in Theoretical Physics from Friedrich Schiller University Jena in the years 2013 to 2016. Prior to that, they pursued a Master of Science degree in Physics from Umeå University from 2012 to 2013. Matthias began their academic journey with a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree in Physics from Friedrich Schiller University Jena in the years 2009 to 2012.

In addition to their formal education, Matthias Pilz has also obtained several certifications to enhance their knowledge and skills. Matthias earned a certification in "Blockchain for Business - An Introduction to Hyperledger Technologies" from The Linux Foundation in June 2018. In the same month, they also completed a certification course on "Hyperledger Fabric and Composer - First Practical Blockchain" from Udemy. Matthias achieved a certification in "Deep Learning, a 5-course specialization by deeplearning.ai on Coursera" in April 2018 through Coursera. Matthias further obtained a certification in "IBM Blockchain Foundation for Developers" from IBM in April 2018. Prior to that, in July 2017, Matthias completed a certification course on "ED101 - Embracing Diversity" offered by edX. In their professional development, they pursued courses in "Game Theory II: Advanced Applications" and "Game Theory" on Coursera in November and October 2016, respectively. Matthias also obtained the "Cambridge English: Proficiency (CPE)" certification from Cambridge University Press in July 2015.
