Andrew Shen

Andrew Shen is currently a Data Analyst & Junior Engineer at Ivy Energy. Prior to this, they were a Research Programmer at UC San Diego Health, where they designed and created a full stack web interface automating the submission of NIH training grants. Andrew built this using Flask, a Python web framework on the front-end and an AWS relational database on the back-end. The site is able to containing and update information on faculty, departments, trainees, grants, and applicants. The site is designed to reduce the time needed to submit training grants and thus promote funding for the department. Prior to this automation, over 300 pages of data were collected and submitted manually.

Before working at UC San Diego Health, Andrew was an Instructor at White Dragon Martial Arts, where they gained experience working with individuals and teams in order to teach Kung Fu and Tai Chi to students of all ages and backgrounds. Their responsibilities included strong speaking/communicating skills, personal and group leadership, and guidance for others as well as software such as Office Tracker and QuickBooks.

Andrew began their working career as a Sales Associate at KD Stone and Cabinet, where they worked from June 2016 to June 2019.

Andrew Shen started their educational career by attending San Dieguito H.S. Academy for 9th-12th grade. Andrew then went on to earn their Bachelor's degree in Data Science from UC San Diego.
