James C. Duncan has a strong background in education and the military. James C. started their career in 1972 as a Chaplain in the United States Navy, where they served until 1998. In 1999, they joined Ivy Tech Community College as the Chair of the Communications Department, a role they held until 2011. From 2011 onwards, they served as the Director of Global Education and Professor of Humanities at Ivy Tech Community College.
James C. Duncan holds a Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) degree in Adult and Continuing Education and Teaching from Nova Southeastern University, which they obtained from 1995 to 1997. James C. also completed an Executive Coaching Certificate program at the University of Cambridge in 2015. Additionally, Duncan has a Master of Divinity (M.Div.) degree in Church History from Drew University, which they earned from 1974 to 1975. In 1976 to 1977, they pursued Philosophy of Education at DePauw University and obtained an AM degree. Duncan's educational journey began with a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in History from Oakland City University, where they studied from 1968 to 1972. In 2011, they completed a certificate program in Effective Online Tutoring at the University of Oxford.
