Bioinformatics Analyst/Engineer at J. Craig Venter Institute

Ivan Chang has several years of work experience in a variety of roles and industries. Ivan began their career as a Junior Research Scientist at the UCBerkeley Chemical Engineering Department from June 2000 to June 2002. Ivan then worked as a Software Engineer at the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory from March 2003 to August 2004. Following this, they worked as an Engineering Consultant at UEmedical from January 2007 to May 2007. Ivan continued their career at UC Irvine, where they held the position of Research Specialist and Postdoc Fellow from February 2012 to December 2016. During this time, they also worked as a Bioinformatics Analyst/Engineer at the J. Craig Venter Institute from December 2016 onwards. Ivan briefly worked as a Bioinformatics Specialist at the UCI Genomics High-Throughput Facility in October and November 2016. Overall, Ivan has a diverse range of experience in research, engineering, and bioinformatics.

Ivan Chang completed their education at several institutions. Ivan first attended the University of California, Berkeley from 1996 to 2000, where they obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Bioengineering. Following this, they pursued further studies at UC Irvine and obtained a Master of Science degree in Biomedical Engineering from 2004 to 2005. Ivan then continued their education at UC Irvine, where they obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in Biomedical Engineering from 2005 to 2011.

In addition to their formal education, Ivan Chang has obtained several certifications from Lynda.com. These certifications include "Agile at Work: Building Your Agile Team", "Introduction to Data Science", "Rapid Prototyping for Product Design", "Sketching for Product Design and AEC", and "UX Design Techniques: Overview". The certifications were obtained between July and August of 2016.
