Elena Jordanov

Elena is a trained public health professional with research and program implementation experience in several public health fields: infectious disease, air quality, soil quality, waste management, and energy efficiency. She focuses on sustainable access to resources and collaboration throughout all project development. She studied at Emory University, where she obtained her Bachelor of Science in chemistry with a minor in philosophy, as well as her Master of Public Health in environmental health. Her work focused on soil remediation and determinants of health in the city of Atlanta. While completing her MPH degree from the Rollins School of Public Health (RSPH), she as awarded the 2020 Robert S. Hascall Graduate Student Sustainability Innovator Award for her success with projects focused on sustainable practices in laboratory settings. She also won the 2020 Excellence in Public Health Practice Award by the RSPH Gangarosa Department of Environmental Health for her capstone project in laboratory waste management. In her free time, she supports the American Public Health Association (APHA) COVID-19 Policy Statement Working Group.

Elena is passionate about sustainable solutions that increase the overall quality of laboratory practices for not only bench scientists, but also hospitals, patients, public health leaders, and the environment. She utilizes her collaborative team-building approach and analytical skills throughout her efforts to meet project goals. Elena’s laboratory background allows her to effectively communicate with researchers and stakeholders, which informs her innovative approach in the public health arena.
