David Newbury

David Newbury is an accomplished technology leader with extensive experience in digital strategy and interactive development, currently serving as the Senior Director of Public Technologies at the J. Paul Getty Trust since July 2017. In this role, Newbury focuses on enhancing the digital visitor experience and advancing Getty’s position in cultural heritage through innovative digital initiatives. Previously, Newbury held various roles, including Assistant Director of Software & UX and Enterprise Software & Data Architect at Workergnome Studios, and Lead Developer at the Carnegie Museums of Pittsburgh, where contributions included developing open-source tools for data normalization. Additional experience encompasses teaching a graduate course on data visualization at Carnegie Mellon University and working as a UI engineer and interactive developer for major brands and agencies. Newbury's educational background includes a Film/Video and Computer Science degree from Penn State University.
