Mike Semotan

Senior Manufacturing Engineer at J.W. Speaker Corporation

Mike Semotan has a diverse work experience in the manufacturing industry. Mike started their career at GE Water & Process Technologies in 1997 as a Facilities & Equipment Maintenance Supervisor, where they managed daily activities in the Maintenance Department. Mike then moved on to become a Manufacturing Engineering Technician at the same company, where they served as a project manager on New Product Introductions and was responsible for design through production qualification of new manufacturing equipment. Mike also served as the element owner for the Safety Risk Assessment program.

In 2003, Mike joined GE Water / Pentair as a Manufacturing Engineering Technician, where they continued to work on NPI projects and served as a Manufacturing Engineering Project Manager. Mike was involved in tasks such as design through installation of manufacturing and assembly equipment. Mike also served as the Manufacturing Representative / Project Manager for New Product Introductions.

Mike then joined Pentair Residential Filtration in 2008 and held multiple roles, including Manufacturing Engineering Technician / Lean Team, where they were responsible for incorporating a facility-wide 5S Program, and Manufacturing Engineering Technician / Safety Team, where they documented and communicated Near Miss events. Mike also worked as a Manufacturing Engineering Technician / Project Manager, responsible for coordinating production scheduling and maintenance work orders for manufacturing cell relocations.

Most recently, Mike worked at J.W. Speaker Corporation, starting in 2012 as a Manufacturing Engineer and later becoming a Senior Manufacturing Engineer. In this role, they managed the design and capacity planning for manufacturing cells and implemented cost-saving initiatives to improve conversion costs. Mike also optimized assembly cell and group design to improve efficiency.

Throughout their career, Mike has demonstrated strong skills in project management, equipment maintenance, and process improvement.

Mike Semotan attended Nathan Hale High School from 1975 to 1977, where they studied Industrial/Mechanical. After completing high school, they enrolled in Milwaukee Area Technical College and graduated in 1999.
