Eric Horvitz is the Chief Scientific Officer at Microsoft. They are a Distinguished Fellow at the Stanford Institute for Human-Centered AI (HAI) since 2019 and a member of the Gates Foundation Advisory Group, Learning Agenda on Digital since 2022. They are a member of the AI2 Scientific Advisory Board since 2014 and hold current board and advisory roles with The Jackson Laboratory (Board of Trustees, since 2024), MIT Advisory Board for SERC (since 2023), Every Cure (Board of Directors & Technical Advisory Council, since 2024), and the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists (Board of Sponsors, since 2018). They are a member of the White House OSTP's President's Council of Advisors on Science and Technology (PCAST) for 2021–2025, and previously served as a Commissioner on the National Security Commission on AI (NSCAI) from 2019 to 2021.
