Michael McKernan

Michael McKernan has a diverse work experience spanning multiple roles and organizations. Michael began their career as a Summer Camp Counselor at The Nuhop Center for Experiential Learning from June 1995 to September 1998. Michael then worked as an English Teacher at Ashland High School from December 1998 to June 1999. In 1999, they joined Mount Desert Island Biological Laboratory as the Director of Education, where they led the Education program for 13 years and oversaw significant growth in staff and grant support. Since 2012, McKernan has been working at The Jackson Laboratory, starting as an Education Coordinator from November 2012 to October 2013. Michael then moved on to become the Program Director for STEM and Undergraduate Education from October 2013 to April 2021, during which they managed various educational programs and partnerships.
