Amanda Thomas

Amanda Thomas has a long history of working with Jackson Public Schools. Amanda began their career with the district in 1998 as a Teacher in a traditional setting. After three years, they transitioned to a Montessori Teacher role, where they stayed for four years. In 2005, Amanda became an Assistant Principal at a Montessori school within the district, and the following year, they were promoted to Principal, a position they held until 2013. During their time as Principal, they demonstrated strong leadership skills and made significant contributions to the school community. In 2013, Amanda took on the role of Assistant Principal at another school in the district and remained in this position until 2015. From 2015 to 2017, they worked as the District Lead Interventionist, where they provided support and guidance to students in need. Amanda then took on the role of Director of Multi-Tiered System of Supports for JPS from 2017 to 2019, where they helped implement the district's MTSS for students from Pre-K to 12th grade. Currently, Amanda is serving as the Executive Director of Climate and Wellness for Jackson Public Schools, a position they have held since 2019.

Amanda Thomas has a solid education background in the field of education. Amanda obtained a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Elementary Education and Teaching from The University of Southern Mississippi, graduating in 1998. From 1999 to 2001, they pursued a Master's degree in Elementary Education and Teaching at Mississippi College. Later, they furthered their education at Mississippi College from 2003 to 2005, earning a Specialist degree in Educational Leadership and Administration, General.
