Ioannis Tsamardinos

Prof. Ioannis Tsamardinos is CEO of JADBio and a Professor at the Computer Science Department of Uni of Crete. He obtained his Ph.D. from the Intelligent Systems Program of the University of Pittsburgh. Subsequently, he joined the faculty of the Department of Biomedical Informatics at Vanderbilt University until 2006 when he returned to Greece. In November, he was appointed as Committee Member on the sectoral Scientific Council regarding Data and AI Policies, for the Greek National Council for Research, Technology, and Innovation. His research interests lie in the field of Machine Learning and Data Analytics and particularly AutoML, Feature Selection, and Causal Discovery. He has mostly applied such methods on Bioinformatics and Biomedical Informatics. Ioannis Tsamardinos has 120+ peer-reviewed, scientific publications, 8500+ citations in Google Scholar growing at a pace of, 1000 citations/year, and 2 US patents. He has been awarded the ERC Consolidator Grant (the EU equivalent to the NSF’s Young Investigator Award) and the Greek national grant on research excellence ARISTEIA II.
