Toby Iles

Toby Iles is an experienced professional in economic analysis and sovereign credit rating, currently serving as the Head of Middle East and Africa Sovereigns at Fitch Ratings since October 2015. In this role, Iles leads the analysis for a diverse portfolio of credits across the Middle East and Africa, actively participating in global rating committees. Prior to joining Fitch Ratings, Iles worked at The Economist Intelligence Unit from October 2008 to August 2015 as a Senior Economist and Deputy Manager for the Country Risk Service, specializing in macroeconomic analysis and sovereign risk assessment. Iles also contributed to "The Economist Guide to Emerging Markets" and has experience in Eastern European economic forecasting and research. Educational qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in Classics from the University of Oxford, a Graduate Diploma in Economics with Distinction from Birkbeck, University of London, and a Master's degree in International Relations from the Diplomatic Academy of Vienna/University of Vienna.
