Donald Choi

Donald Choi is Senior Managing Director of Capital Markets. In this role, Don oversees the firm’s Capital Markets team, origination platform, deal screening, and execution process.

Prior to joining Jafri Capital, Donald Choi has served in the insurance and financial services industry for over 15 years. He began his career with New York Life, then was promoted into management as an Investment Specialist and Agency Director with MetLife. During his tenure, his key role was in both recruiting, business development, and investment management strategies for in-house financial advisors. Moving on to new endeavors, Donald built an investment advisory firm with ING Financial Partners, which is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the ING Group. There he managed and advised on clients’ investment portfolios. In 2005, Donald sold his practice to his partner and pursued a career at Allianz, a Global Fortune 100 company. There, Donald served as Vice President of the Broker/Dealer & Financial Institutions Development of the central and northeast US. Within a year and a half, his region’s production grew to 130 million in revenue. Currently, Donald is Managing Member of Foresight Marketing Group, LLC which is a national insurance brokerage general agency, and Foresight Capital Advisors, LLC which provides consulting for capital and advisory services for small and middle-market companies.

Donald’s real estate specializes in value-add investment strategies, and currently holds a portfolio of 70 units which was acquired in a short period of 5 months. All in the multifamily asset class, all the assets are yielding double-digit yield to construction and double-digit cap rates. Donald also works with institutional funds to access capital markets for project financing.

Donald has served leadership roles within the financial services industry with the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors as a Board of Director member for the Boston Chapter from 2005-2007. While serving as a board member, Donald was instrumental in developing new ideas to help increase overall memberships, develop strategies for the industry, and work with political action committees. Donald has held professional licenses and designations that include FINRA Series, 6,7,63, and 66 licenses as well as Life, Accident, Health, Property, Casualty, Real Estate Salesperson licenses.

Donald Choi has served the Asian Real Estate Association of America as the National Policy Chair in 2017, directly responsible for overturning the student debt rule by Fannie Mae and other lobbying matters. Donald also served as the 2018 Chapter President which at the time was the largest chapter in AREAA across the US.
