Malam Ismaila Adamu

Divisional Head, Corporate Services at Jaiz Bank

Ismaila Adamu is a member of the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria and an alumnus of Bayero University Kano, where he obtained B.Sc. in Accounting (1992) and M. Sc. in Banking & Finance (1997). He joined the Bank from formation stage (the Jaiz Project that metamorphosed into Jaiz Bank).

His involvement with Jaiz project dated back to 2001 as the Committee Secretary for the Promotion of Non-interest Financial System in Nigeria with Ahmed Zakari & Co. as the Secretariat. In March 2003 he coordinated the Jaiz Profit Sharing Bank secretariat as well as the registration of Jaiz International Plc. with the Corporate Affairs Commission (C.A.C). He also coordinated the highly successful Initial Public Offer (I.P.O) of the company and thereafter, deposited the then N2 billion required Minimum Deposit for Banks with the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).

He started his professional carreer in 1993 with Abdu Abdurrahim & Co. (Chartered Accountants), Kano. Over the course of his outstanding carrier, he had a brief stint at Nicco Sweet, Kano as the Financial Controller and subsequently a pioneer staff and Auditor at Ahmed Zakari & Co. (Chartered Accountants), Kano in 1998 before joining the Bank.

On the commencement of the Bank in January 2012, he was the Head, Support Service, a position he held until he was seconded as the pioneer General Manager/CEO of Jaiz Foundation where he supervised the setting up of the first Takaful Insurance in Nigeria (Jaiz Takaful Ltd.) and El-Jaiz Investments & Services Ltd. He was subsequently made the Head, Public Sector, a position held prior to his current position.

He has attended various courses and programmes on Islamic Banking in Bangladesh, Singapore, Kenya, UAE among others.

He is happily married with children.
