Robert Hales

Robert Hales has extensive work experience in various leadership roles within the defense and public sector industries. Robert currently serves as the Head of James Fisher Defence Division and Managing Director JFD at James Fisher and Sons plc. Prior to this, they worked at Serco as the Aviation and Maritime Services Director, leading the UK aviation and maritime business for defense, civil aviation, and nuclear sectors. Robert also held the position of Maritime Services Director at Serco. Before joining Serco, Robert was the General Manager at Defence Business Services, where they focused on customer services and led transformation efforts to improve customer experience and operational performance. Robert also worked as the Head of Operations at Serco UK & Europe, overseeing operational performance and service improvement. Additionally, they served as the Head of Transformation at Serco UK & Europe, leading a strategy review and operational transformation program. Robert's earlier experience includes roles at Serco Civil Government, where they were the Head of Strategy & Transformation and Strategy Manager, and at PwC Strategy, where they were a Strategy Manager and Associate Consultant, working on business development, marketing, team management, and project delivery.

Robert Hales' education history includes completing the Higher Command and Staff Course at the Defence Academy of the United Kingdom in 2021. Robert also participated in the Serco Oxford Leadership Programme at the Saïd Business School, University of Oxford in 2016. In 2014, they obtained a Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) from Cass Business School. Prior to that, they earned an MA (Oxon) in Philosophy, Politics & Economics from the University of Oxford from 2003 to 2006. Furthermore, they are a Member of the Chartered Management Institute and holds a Diploma in Interpretation of Financial Statements from the Securities and Investment Institute. Robert also completed the Serco Aspire Programme, a Leadership Development Programme.
