Yukie Shimada

Senior R&d Scientist, Team Lead at James Hardie Industries

Yukie Shimada, PhD has over 20 years of experience in research and development. Yukie has worked as a Senior R&D Scientist, Team Lead at James Hardie Building Products since 2015, where they have conducted competitive analysis and developed test methods for various materials. Prior to that, they were a Senior R&D Engineer at Crane Composites from 2012 to 2015, where they developed innovative panel systems for wet area interior wall and recreation vehicle sidewall applications. Yukie also worked as a Research Scientist at James Hardie Building Products from 2005 to 2012, where they improved the durability and strength of exterior cladding. Before that, they were a Visiting Scholar at CTLGroup where they led a collaboration project and published a literature review on concrete deterioration. Yukie also served as a Visiting Scholar at the Center for Advanced Cement-Based Materials, where they conducted research on the stability of cementitious systems. Yukie began their career as an intern at the Public Works Research Institute, where they conducted research on sewage treatment.

Yukie Shimada, PhD earned a Ph.D. in Materials Science & Engineering from Northwestern University, where they studied from 2000 to 2005.
