Amelia Underwood

Amelia Underwood, Ph.D., serves as an Assistant Professor of Adult Education and Human Resource Development at James Madison University since January 2010, also holding adjunct faculty roles in the Honors Program and the Department of Military Science. Underwood designed and instructs courses such as "American Women at War," exploring the historical contributions of women in American military conflicts, and oversees study abroad programs focusing on World War II. Previous experience includes directorial and instructional roles at the Virginia Women’s Institute for Leadership, corporate faculty responsibilities at Harrisburg University of Science and Technology, and a career in the US Army as a Captain. Amelia Underwood holds a Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Science and Engineering from the United States Military Academy at West Point, a Master's Degree in U.S. History from James Madison University, and is a Doctoral Candidate in Organizational Leadership at Regent University.
