Tara Lee Burns

Tara Lee Burns is an Assistant Professor of Dance and Technology at James Madison University since August 2023, previously serving as a Graduate Teaching Associate at The Ohio State University from August 2018 to May 2021. At The Ohio State University, Tara taught courses in contemporary and ballet dance, along with composition, improvisation, yoga, and wellness theory. Tara's collaborative performance experience includes participation in the "Climate Gathering" from 2019 to 2020, and as a performer with companies such as Adele Myers and Dancers, receiving notable recognition in The New York Times. Previous teaching roles span institutions such as Choate Rosemary Hall and ACES International Education, where Tara focused on contemporary dance and composition mentorship. Additionally, Tara has contributed as an artistic director of Burns Dance Media and has worked in various artistic management and design roles. Educational credentials include an MFA in Dance from The Ohio State University and a MA in Digital Performance from the University of Hull, UK.
