Commercial Superintendent & Snow Area Manager at James Martin Associates

Daniel is responsible for commercial crews and maintenance services at commercial properties. This includes daily scheduling, site inspections, supervision at the site and communication with clients. Daniel is involved in hiring, training on equipment and safe practices, and job efficiency methods for execution of the work. In the winter, Daniel manages the winter snowplow crew and salting efforts at one of JMA’s largest commercial sites, including snowplow equipment management.

Daniel started in 1996 as a maintenance foreman. He became a supervisor after 2 years and grew in responsibility as he gained his CDL, Illinois Department of Agriculture pesticide license, and Landscape Industry Certified Technician – Exterior designation. He later owned and managed his own landscape company, returning to JMA in 2007 to his superintendent role.

In 2009, Daniel supervised two maintenance projects which won national recognition by the Professional Landcare Network PLANET. Tarns of the Moor won the 2009 Distinction Environmental Improvement Award for Residential Landscape Management. A Wilmette Residence was the second property, also winning a 2009 Distinction Environmental Improvement Award.

Prior to Daniel’s career at JMA, he worked at the Pine Meadow Country Club as Assistant Grounds Maintenance, pesticide applicator, and irrigation manager.

Daniel is married with 5 grown children. His wife owns a custom dress making business in Mundelein. He was born in Leon, Mexico.
