Philippe Steyaert has extensive work experience in various engineering roles. Philippe started their career in 1986 as a Machine Operator at Anglo Belgian Corporation Gent, where they operated and maintained milling machines and turning lathes. In 1989, they joined Oleon as a Maintenance Technician, responsible for maintaining pumps, compressors, and valves. Philippe then moved on to Jan De Nul Group in 1991, where they served as a Chief Engineer, overseeing the construction and trials of cutter dredgers, hopper dredgers, and stone dumping vessels.

Philippe Steyaert earned a Bachelor's degree in Higher technical college (A1) Electro-mechanics from ISHR - BME Gent between 1988 and 1990. Philippe also obtained a High school degree in A3 Mechanics and A2 Mechanics from Technical Institute Glorieux from 1980 to 1986. In 2013, Philippe completed the ABB ACS800 Drives Service and Maintenance Course from Bakker Sliedrecht Electro Industries B.V. Philippe also holds additional certifications, including the Certificate of proficiency Security awareness training VI/6-1 and the Certificate of proficiency training in designated security duties VI/6-2, both from The Government of Belgium in July 2013. Philippe's education history also includes the Chief Engineer AIII/2 certification from the Kingdom of Belgium, although the month and year of its acquisition are not provided.
