Ryan Lean

Associate Partner at JAROS BAUM AND BOLLES

Ryan Lean serves as Associate Partner at JB&B and leads JB&B Field, a division of JB&B incorporating nine specific field-related services into one comprehensive service offering. Since joining the firm in 2004, Mr. Lean has garnered extensive experience in building commissioning and related services for commercial, mission-critical, educational, laboratory, healthcare, and LEED green buildings. He leverages his expertise in the mechanical design of large-scale central plants toward the management of all commissioning projects at JB&B, while also overseeing Balancing, Operational Optimization (OO), and Special Inspections, among other services, under JB&B Field™. He sees building commissioning and related field services as a means of fostering relationships with owners and operators and guiding them through the challenges of transitioning to a new facility.

Within the firm, Mr. Lean has taken the lead in transforming JB&B’s in-house training program into a formal 11-college university, JB&B University, now in its seventh year. Outside the firm, Mr. Lean currently serves as the immediate Past President of the International Board of the Building Commissioning Association. He is also the past president of the Building Commissioning Certification Board, the organization responsible for establishing certification of professional commissioning providers.

Mr. Lean holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University at Buffalo, State University of New York. He is a licensed Professional Engineer in the States of Connecticut, Missouri, Michigan, New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania, and is also a LEED Accredited Professional, Certified Commissioning Professional, WELL Accredited Professional, Existing Building Commissioning Professional, and Certified Energy Auditor.
