Laura Cooke

Associate Principal, Registered Architect at Jasmax

Associate Principal Laura Cooke has over 12 years’ experience working across a variety of typologies including transport, commercial, healthcare and education sectors. Having worked on large-scale projects in the United Kingdom, China and New Zealand, Laura brings a wealth of international knowledge to her local projects.

With proven experience and skill working on multifaceted projects with an emphasis on outcomes for public good, Laura’s unique skillset sees her working at the juncture between architecture and urban design, allowing her to enhance the wide-reaching positive effects this can have on shaping our cities.

Laura was the Design Lead on the station and stop design for the $1bn Auckland Light Rail Transit concept, a powerful project that aims to create a catalyst for unlocking new transport connections within Auckland.

Other projects Laura has been involved in during her time at Jasmax include the Vodafone Headquarters in Christchurch and the Otahuhu Transport Exchange in South Auckland. She was Project Architect on Auckland Tennis Arena and led the architecture and urban design response on Auckland’s Ferry Basin Masterplan.

Laura first joined Jasmax in 2013, leaving after four years to gain further overseas experience. Working for HASSELL in London, she designed and delivered the Adam Smith Business School for the University of Glasgow. Inspired by the changes and opportunities for working on large-scale city shaping projects in New Zealand,

Laura re-joined Jasmax as Associate Principal in late 2019.

Laura is now based in our Wellington Studio, where she is currently leading the design and delivery of the new BNZ headquarters which will be a flagship building on the Wellington waterfront.
