Joyce Gerald

Board Member, District 2 at Jasper County School District

Joyce Gerald is currently a board member for the Jasper County School District, and they have been working in education for over 20 years. Joyce started their career as a teacher before moving into instructional technology and eventually becoming a federal programs coordinator. In this role, they managed and wrote grants for programs like Title I, Title III, and the School Improvement Grant. Joyce also served as the instructional technology coach for the district, providing training and support to teachers in using data to inform instruction, integrating technology into teaching content, and developing accommodations for special education and ELL students. Joyce is known for their ability to write clear, concise grant proposals that win funding and their dedication to ensuring that these programs are implemented with fidelity.

Joyce Gerald attended Brooklyn College for both their Bachelor of Science and Masters of Science in Early Childhood. Joyce also has a certification from the New York State Education Department in Education - Early Childhood. After moving to South Carolina, they attended the University of South Carolina for their Pre-K Special Education certification. Joyce also has two certifications from the South Carolina Department of Education; one in SC Elementary, Early Childhood, Gifted Endorsement and the other in South Carolina On-Site Civil Rights Review. Lastly, they have a certification from SYMBIS Assessment as a SYMBIS Facilitator.
