Sanjay Sethi

Shri Sanjay Sethi is an IAS Officer of Maharashtra Cadre of 1992 batch with a Master's degree in Economics from London School of Economics. In January 2019, he joined as Chairman of India's Premier Container Port, Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust. During his service of more than 27 years with Govt. of Maharashtra, Mr. Sethi handled key roles in various portfolios such as CEO (MIDC), Additional Metropolitan Commissioner (MMRDA), Additional Municipal Commissioner (BMC), Managing Director (Maharashtra State Electricity Transmission Co. Ltd.) etc. Before JNPT, he handled mega infrastructure projects like Mumbai Metro, Development of Coastal Road, Urban water supply and Sewerage Management, etc. and was responsible for all the foreign investments in the state. At JNPT, he is working towards the modernization of the Port through the latest innovations. Since he took over, in just 18 months, JNPT has taken various steps to convert this leading port of the country into a smart, sustainable and customer-friendly port. Interventions are being made to bring significant changes in the whole port ecosystem to benefit the end customers in EXIM Trade. Some of the recent initiatives on EoDB, like the implementation of ITRHO at all port terminals of JNPT, the introduction of Logistics Services Provider Services for competitive logistics at the port, a Web-based port entry system etc. have led to significant improvement in KPI of the port at par with the global standards and have resulted in an overall reduction in cost and time. During the COVID pandemic, despite all the challenges, JNPT has been working without any pause. The efforts of JNPT to keep all operations on with due care on the health and welfare of the port employees and associated staff are well appreciated by the Trade and Ministry.
