Kayla Kia

Kayla Kia started their work experience in 2010 as a Fine Jewelry Consultant at Belk. In this role, they maintained client relations, repaired jewelry, reconciled inventory, and created jewelry displays. Kayla then moved on to work as an Accountant at AREVA NP from November 2010 to August 2013. In this position, they reviewed and verified invoices, processed accounts payable, created financial statements, and processed payroll. From August 2013 to May 2014, they worked as a Senior Accountant at KDC | Lynchburg, where they reconciled and analyzed variances in the General Ledger, recorded adjusting journal entries, and prepared cash forecasts and budgets. After that, from May 2014 to October 2017, they were a Senior Staff Accountant at Dominion Financial Consultants, collaborating with senior management, managing client relations, and creating multi-year financial plans. Most recently, they have been working at JBG SMITH since November 2017 as a Senior Project Accountant. In this role, they maintain financial records for a portfolio of properties, prepares SEC schedules, supports internal departments and external firms with financial processes, and assists with audits and tax filings.

Kayla Kia attended E.C. Glass from 2005 to 2009 where they obtained an Advanced Diploma. Following that, they pursued a Bachelor of Arts degree in Accounting at the University of Lynchburg from 2009 to 2012. Later on, they went on to Aspen University from 2012 to 2015 to obtain a Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) with a focus in Finance.
