Maximilian Hartman

Design Manager at JDS Development Group

Maximilian Hartman has extensive work experience in the construction and design industry. Maximilian is currently a Design Manager at JDS Development Group since July 2022. Before joining JDS, Max worked at Gilbane Building Company, where they held multiple roles. From April 2021 to June 2022, they served as a Senior Project Engineer for The Umbrella Factory project in Brooklyn, where they managed subcontractors, submittal packages, and RFI processes. Maximilian also organized and developed workflows for team project management. Prior to that, Max was a Senior VDC Engineer from April 2019 to September 2021, leading BIM/MEP coordination for high-rise residential buildings like The Crown Building and Hunter's Point Towers. Maximilian created and maintained dynamic BIM models and provided laser scanning and 3D modeling services. From March 2017 to March 2019, Max was a VDC Engineer II for various projects, including 130 William St and 45 Park Place. Maximilian drafted field drawings, maintained BIM models, and performed laser scanning services. Max started their career at Gilbane as a VDC Engineer in October 2016, assisting with BIM/MEP coordination for 200 E. 59th Street.

Prior to Gilbane, Max worked as a Fabrication TA at GSAPP Fabrication Lab from September 2015 to June 2016. Maximilian was responsible for shop safety, operating and maintaining fabrication equipment, and teaching CNC milling workflows. Maximilian also fabricated furniture for various purposes. Max also worked as a Shop Monitor at GSAPP from June 2013 to August 2015.

During their time with Kahr Real Estate from September 2015 to March 2016 as an intern, Max measured and transcribed units of acquired luxury apartment buildings. Maximilian also designed communal spaces to generate revenue for the portfolio.

Max's career began with an internship at SPG architects from June 2014 to August 2014. Maximilian visited sites, transcribed dimensions for ongoing projects, and created tutorial booklets for the SPG Furniture Design website. Maximilian also managed office materials and facilitated sustainability in construction.

Overall, Max has demonstrated expertise in various aspects of construction, design, BIM coordination, and project management throughout their career.

Maximilian Hartman began their education in 2004 at St. Ignatius College Prep, where they completed their high school education. In 2008, they enrolled at Boston College and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Art History, Criticism, and Conservation in 2012. In the same year, they also attended Harvard University for the Career Discovery Program in Architecture. In 2010, Maximilian Hartman studied Environmental Design at the University of California, Berkeley. Maximilian further pursued their education at Columbia University Graduate School of Architecture, Planning & Preservation, earning a Master of Architecture degree in 2015. Following that, they completed a Master's Degree in Real Estate Development at the same institution in 2016. Additionally, Maximilian Hartman spent a semester abroad at the American University of Rome in 2011, focusing on Art History.
