Kamla Modi, Ph.D. has extensive work experience in research, evaluation, and program leadership roles. Currently, they serve as the Senior Director of Design and Impact at The Jed Foundation (JED), where they are responsible for driving impactful design strategies. Prior to this, they held the position of Senior Director of Research and Evaluation at JED, overseeing research initiatives. Kamla also worked as the Director of Learning and Evaluation and Director of Program Evaluation at JED.
Previously, Kamla worked at the Girl Scouts of the USA as a Senior Researcher, leading thought leadership research to inform programming and policy decisions. Kamla also conducted market and brand research studies for strategic decision-making.
Earlier in their career, Kamla served as the Head Gymnastics Coach at ST. FRANCIS PREPARATORY SCHOOL, leading a highly successful team. Kamla also gained research experience at Yale University, Jacobi Medical Center, and Rutgers University Center for Cognitive Science.

Kamla Modi, Ph.D. holds a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in Applied Developmental Psychology from Fordham University. Prior to pursuing their Ph.D., they earned a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Psychology from Rutgers University.

How We Do It: Our evidence-based, comprehensive public health approach equips teens and young adults with the skills and knowledge to help themselves and each other, strengthens schools’ mental health and suicide prevention policies, programs and systems, and mobilizes community awareness, understanding, and action. Vision: JED is building a future where every high school, college, and community has a comprehensive, fair, and just system that protects emotional health and prevents suicide among teens and young adults.
