Deshawn Burrell-Elem

DeShawn Burrell-Elem, DHA, currently serves as the School Safety Administrator for Jefferson County Public Schools, overseeing safety protocols and crisis mitigation in educational settings while fostering relationships with students, families, and the community. Previous experience includes roles as a School Based Administrator focused on equity and academic success, and Director of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion at Maryhurst. DeShawn has also held leadership positions at Ivy Tech Community College, where strategic leadership for student success retention and intervention programs was provided. Earlier career roles involved empowering young women through Independent Living programs and youth counseling. Educational accomplishments include a Doctorate of Health Administration and multiple master's degrees in education and business.
