Daina Lujan has a diverse work experience in the education sector. Daina began their career as a Summer Camp Coordinator at the City of South San Francisco and later worked as a Teacher at the Pacifica School District. In 2011, they became the Safe Routes to School Coordinator at the San Mateo County Office of Education, before transitioning to the role of Assistant Principal at the Jefferson Elementary School District. Daina then served as the Principal at the Millbrae School District, where they managed various responsibilities such as developing policies, supporting faculty, supervising staff, and managing the budget. In 2016, they became a Trustee at the South San Francisco Unified School District. Daina also worked as an Adjunct Faculty at the San Mateo County Community College District. Currently, they hold the position of Director of Human Resources at the Jefferson Union High School District. Daina Lujan has received recognition and awards for their work, including the California Gold Ribbon and the San Mateo County School Board Association J. Russell Kent Award.
Daina Lujan's education history begins with their high school education at Oceana High School, where they obtained their High School Diploma and graduated as Valedictorian. Daina then attended San Francisco State University from 1998 to 2003, earning their Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Liberal Studies. Daina went on to pursue their teaching credentials and master's degree in Elementary Education at the same university from 2003 to 2007. During this time, they obtained a Multiple Subject Teaching Credential with CLAD Certification and a Master of Arts degree.
In 2010, Daina enrolled at San Francisco State University once again and completed an Administrative Credential and Master of Arts degree in Education Administration in 2012. Daina expanded their educational qualifications by attending Thompson Rivers University from 2013 to 2014, where they obtained a Lifetime British Columbia Teaching and Administrative Certificate.
Additionally, Daina Lujan has obtained certification as a Dare to Lead Trained professional from Dare to Lead™ Trained institution in November 2022.
