Arnout Mertens

Arnout Mertens holds extensive experience in international programs, philanthropy, and organizational governance. Mertens currently serves as the International Director of Programmes and Innovation as well as the International Director of Philanthropy and Development at Jesuit Refugee Service since March 2017. Previous roles include Governing Board Member at Jordan University College, Board Member at ELKAP - Electricité pour Kapanga, and General Director of Support Services for the Salvatorian Fathers and Brothers. Mertens has also led SOFIA Global - Salvatorian Office for International Aid and worked as an Academic Assistant at the European University Institute. Mertens holds a PhD in History from the European University Institute and has pursued further education at INSEAD and Stanford University, focusing on social entrepreneurship and advanced project management.
